Burton upon Trent Brewery Historian, Ian Webster, a Trust Member, published his second book “Brewing in Burton upon Trent” (Amberley Publishing) on 15 January 2018. His previous book “Ind Coope & Allsopp Breweries: The History of the Hand” came out in December 2015 and was the fourth bestselling book at the Burton Waterstones that Christmas.

“Brewing in Burton upon Trent” tells the story of brewing in the town from the first recognised Common Brewer Benjamin Printon in 1708 through to an in-depth look at the current commercial breweries, featuring exclusive interviews with the brewers of Coors, Marston’s, Burton Bridge, Heritage, Black Hole, Tower, Burton Town, Old Cottage, Gates, Neon Raptor and the Velvet Owl.

Beautifully illustrated throughout with many previously unseen photographs, the book is a visual trip down memory lane to a long since lost era. Also featured is the Burton upon Trent Heritage Walk, a guide around the remaining brewery buildings and sites, complete with stop for refreshments!

The book is available from Amberley Publishing price £14.99 or speak to Ian on ianjohnwebster@gmail.com
