The family of National Brewery Heritage (NBHT) Trust chairman Keith Norris showed they could roll out the barrel at the World Barrel Rolling Championship held at the National Brewery Centre.
Keith and Christine Norris beat three other teams to win the mixed doubles final of the National Barrel Rolling Championship held at the National Brewery Centre.
And Christine Norris was declared the overall winner and world champion of the barrel rollings equivalent of a F1 grand prix by winning in two of the three categories she entered
The traditional event, which started 80 years ago in 1933 had an international flavour as Tereza, Vojta and Jiri Plevkova from the Czech Republic take on Burton teams for the coveted title.
NBHT chairman Keith Norris said: “We were flattered that our success over the years tempted the Czech Republic champions, who regard themselves as the best in the world to come over to challenge us.
“Fortunately on the day our skills and the difficulty of the course were sufficient to overcome the younger and fitter challengers on the day.”
Local MP Andrew Griffiths, who also sits on the board of the NBHT and his wife Kate also joined in the fun.
