At the end of April more boxes arrived on several large pallets at the Trust’s premises at Station Street, with a final load to follow later this year. Containing significant amounts of archive material which have been moved from the former museum site, our small team of dedicated volunteers is now hard at work to organise and catalogue it. From handwritten Victorian ledgers detailing the pay of brewery workers to late twentieth century marketing materials promoting individual beer brands, the archive is a diverse collection.
Freelance Collections Officer Laura Waters said: “Moving the archive from its previous location at the former National Brewery Centre to our new home in Station Street is a major logistical operation. We are grateful to the Trust’s volunteers for their time and energy, and the support of East Staffordshire Borough Council and Molson Coors, as we prepare the archive to open to researchers in the future.”
