One of the most recognizable and unusual items in the National Brewery Collection is the Bottle Car. But did you know that it is one of a set of 5 cars manufactured by Daimler and purchased by Worthington’s brewery of Burton upon Trent in 1924?
When Worthington’s merged with its neighbour Bass in 1927, the bottle cars continued to be used for promotional work for both brands throughout the 1920s and 1930s. One of the other cars in the set is now owned by the Motor Museum in Beaulieu.
The Worthington bottle car is safely stored and will continue to be a key part of the Collection.
